Joining the panel are the ambassadors and consuls of eight different countries: Belgium, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Ireland, and Peru. They will discuss a variety of topics related to the pandemic and their respective countries; the effect that COVID-19 has had on their economies, how their governments have responded to the crisis and whether COVID-19 has created unexpected opportunities.
For the first time since JMIBA began hosting the Global Insights series, the event will begin with introductions and comments provided by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Member of Parliament Rachel Bendayan, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade will be the keynote speaker.
“The calibre of the participants is astounding. I am so proud of the hard work the JMIBA students have put into this event,” says Mehdi Farashahi, management professor at the John Molson School of Business, and director of the International Business Program. Since 2015, Mehdi has been working with JMIBA on the Global Insights series and other projects.
"I believe students have endless capacity and talents, we just need to give them the opportunity and enable them to exercise and demonstrate their talents,” explains Farashahi. “I have had the opportunity to observe how they have performed the most difficult and complex projects such as Global Insights and the international trips in the most possible efficient and effective way. It has been my honour to moderate these events, and I am continuously impressed by their commitment to discussing important topics that affect all of us.”
