Lise Watier, who received an honorary degree from Concordia last June, has won the Beta Gamma Sigma 2018 Entrepreneurial Achievement Award.

Anne-Marie Croteau, Dean of the John Molson School of Business (JMSB), presented Watier with the award, which recognizes leadership excellence and service to the community, at JMSB’s annual Beta Gamma Sigma induction ceremony.

“I cannot think of a more deserving recipient,” said Croteau in her introduction of Watier, who was also the keynote speaker at the event.

“Few names in Canadian business are as synonymous with their brand as Lise Watier.”

Watier founded Lise Watier Cosmetics, and ran the company from 1972 to 2013. She is currently president of the Lise Watier Foundation, which helps women in need take control of their lives through its s’entreprendre program.

“At JMSB, we encourage our students to be active community members,” said Croteau. “Mme Watier exemplifies this idea by approaching her Foundation with the same vision and passion as she did her business.”

The Entrepreneurial Achievement Award was established to provide appropriate recognition to individuals and firms who contribute significantly to the vitality and strength of the economy, combining innovative business achievement with service to humanity.

Beta Gamma Sigma is the exclusive business honor society associated with AACSB International. JMSB has been accredited by AACSB since 1997 and has inducted nearly 2,000 of its top graduates into the society.
