The Labour of Media (Studies): Activism, Education, and Industry

The Media Labour Collective is a group of graduate students from the Film Studies and Communication departments.

Through the conference “The Labour of Media (Studies): Activism, Education, and Industry”, the members of the Media Labour Collective   want to create a venue for discourse, and to encourage activist engagements with topics such as casualization, competition, colonization, and limitations to academic freedom in the context of media industry and labour research.

Keynote speakers:

Vicki Mayer (Tulane University)

Alexandra Juhasz (Brooklyn College)

Charles Acland (Concordia University)

The two-day conference will mainly take place at Concordia University on Nov. 15-17. A Screening event will take place at La Lumière Collective.
