Accolades – Fall 2019


A paper by Dr. Peter Rigby received the Mining Software Repositories (MSR) Conference 2019 Most Influential Paper Award. This is an award given to a paper 10 years after publication. (“The Promises and Perils of Mining Git” by Christian Bird, Peter Rigby, Earl Barr, David Hamilton, Daniel German, and Prem Devanbu).

Dr. Marta Kersten-Oertel’s student Sara Amini won an Outstanding Paper Award at the Augmented Environments and Computer Assisted Interventions (AE-CAI) Workshop at MICCAI (Amini, S.* Kersten-Oertel M., 2019. An Augmented Reality Mastectomy Surgical Planning Prototype using the HoloLens. Healthcare Technology Letters (epub ahead of print)).

Dr. Kersten-Oertel was named a Concordia University Research Chair (New Scholar) as of Nov. 1.

Dr. Desai was invited to appear on the CBC Eng. TV show Our Montreal to talk about Privacy in the Age of Information (and Algorithms); this program which was broadcast a couple of weeks ago.

Dr. Suen and his student Rabiah Al-qudah won a Best Paper award at the 3rd International Conference on Vision, Image, and Signal Processing (Impact of Font on Computer Recognition of License Plates on Automobiles” Rabiah Al-qudah and Ching Y. Suen)

Dr. Tsantalis received the IEEE Computer Society TCSE Most Influential Paper Award for the paper "Identification of Extract Method Refactoring Opportunities"

Dr. Jaumard has been named Principal Scientist at CRIM.

Drs. Rodrigo Morales and Gueheneuc have been awarded a 16, 000 CAD the from Ministere de Relations Internationales et Francophonie (MRIF)  Coopération bilatérale Québec-Mexique in the project title: Collaboration de recherche interdisciplinaire entre le Québec et Mexique pour soutenir la création, l'exploitation et les tests des logiciel robustes pour l'Internet des objets (IoT)

Dr. Aiman Hanna, along with his Security team, have published book for Binary Code Fingerprinting for Cybersecurity. The Book can be accessed on Amazon here.
