Concordia SAE's AeroDesign team, a student-led chapter of SAE International, brought home third place in two categories at the organization's AeroDesign 2023 competition in Florida.

"It feels amazing to be among the best in the world of the Advanced Class and we are immensely proud of what we were able to accomplish throughout the past months," says Nicholas Dalkiriadis, AeroDesign Advanced Class team captain.

The Eastern division of competition took place on from March 10 to 12, 2023 in Lakeland, Florida. The event is designed to test students' mental resilience and comprehensive understanding of aircraft design. Concordia's team presented their primary aircraft (PA) and successfully deployed a powered autonomous delivery aircraft while the PA was in-flight.

Their design secured them third place in the Mission Performance and Overall categories, marking their first podium finish since 2015.

"We couldn't have achieved this without the efforts of our predecessors, as Rome wasn't built in a day. We eagerly anticipate witnessing how future teams build upon our experience and ascend to even greater heights," Dalkiriadis adds.

The AeroDesign team includes students in Mechanical, Aerospace and Computer engineering at the Gina Cody School.
