Social Justice Centre coordinator Travis LaCroix publishes in the Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Artificial Intelligence

The coordinator of the Social Justice Centre, Travis LaCroix, recently published the article “Communicative Bottlenecks lead to Maximal Information Transfer” in the Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Artificial Intelligence. The article discusses new analytic and simulation results for signalling games where there are fewer messages than state/act pairs, giving rise to informational bottlenecks. LaCroix shows that agents learning a communication convention tend to favour partitions of nature which provide maximal information transfer, even though nothing from an analysis of the stability properties of the underlying game suggests that this should be the case.
