AGIC 2020: Landedness/Terre, Terrain, Territoire

AGIC 2020 (Annual Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference) will be hosting a number of free public events this year to support the main conference event on February 20, "Landedness/Terre, Terrain, Territoire."

To support this theme, and to educate on the ongoing dispossession of Indigenous nations at the hands of the Canadian settler state, they will be screening 2 documentaries by Abenaki filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin about the 1990 Oka Crisis:

Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance on January 28 at 7pm, and

Rocks at Whiskey Trench on February 11 at 7pm

Both screenings will take place in VA-114, 1395 René Lévesque W.

Free event. Cash donations will be accepted with all proceeds going to the First Peoples Justice Center of Montréal.

Join us in viewing an important documentation of contemporary and historical Indigenous-settler relations in Canada.

AGIC would like to acknowledge that Concordia University is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien'kehà:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on on which we gather. Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montréal community.
