We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Olivia Sultanescu has accepted a limited-term appointment in the Department of Philosophy at Concordia.

Olivia Sultanescu works on foundational topics in the philosophy of language and mind, such as the constitution of meaning and content, the character of linguistic agency, and the normativity and objectivity distinctive of language and thought.  She is also interested in broader questions regarding our nature as beings who think and act in ways governed by the appreciation of reasons.  She is especially concerned with the way in which the later work of Donald Davidson bears on these issues.  She is currently a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows and a Collegiate Assistant Professor in the Humanities Division at the University of Chicago.  She received her MA and PhD from York University in Toronto and her BA from the University of Bucharest.  To find out more about Olivia’s work, visit https://philpeople.org/profiles/olivia-sultanescu
