Female Suicide Bomber hit Potiskum GSM Market

  • Several people are feared killed as twin bomb blasts hit the Global System Communication (GSM) market located close to Brema Primary School, along Mohammed Idrissa Way in Potiskum, Yobe State, North East Nigeria on Monday
  • Monday’s twin blasts are coming a day after another explosive device went off at the Divisional Police station, also in Potiskum, killing two people on the spot
  • It is suspected that the bomber came from the terrorist group, Boko Haram

Boko Haram: Ground Troops Enter Sambisa in Search of Chibok Girls

  • According to a military source the sustained aerial bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for weeks now have now made it possible for the Army to move in today for ground operation
  • According to the source, “the fear is that some of the girls might be amongst the women killed in Bama and other parts of the liberated towns, and Sambisa offers the more viable hope of all the remaining options to rescue the girls”.

  • The President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has promised that his government will not terminate the collaboration between Nigeria and her neighbouring countries of Cameroon, Niger and Chad to combat the Boko Haram insurgency
  • Gusau said Buhari, during the visit, which was on Sunday, promised that his administration would enhance collaboration with neighboring governments of Chad, Niger and Cameroon to curtail the trans-border movement of Boko Haram insurgents, cut supply of arms, cut recruitment and training of fresh recruits

  • “A notorious top terrorist commander, Abu Mojahid, was among the terrorists that died in their encounter with troops on the outskirts of Alagarno, Tuesday morning.  The terrorists had staged a daring attack on troops who were on patrol of the area,” confirmed the Director of Defence Information (DDI), Major-General Chris Olukolade
  • In a related incident, at least two Nigerian soldiers were killed and six others injured when Boko Haram members launched a surprise rocket attack on their convoy in Borno State, according to local sources.

Chad’s Troops Rescue 43 Boko Haram Child Soldiers in Nigeria

  • Col. Azem Agouna, Chadian Army Spokesman, said on Wednesday that they have repatriated 43 children, who had been kidnapped by terrorist group Boko Haram

UNHCR Donates Relief Materials to IDPs in Bauchi

  • The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in collaboration with the Nigerian Red Cross Society on Thursday donated non-food items to over 15,000 internally displaced persons in Bauchi State
  • He also assured that the UNHCR would help the internally displaced persons willing to resettle in their states of origin to do so in the shortest possible time
