  • One person convicted for murder was executed in Semnan central prison on May 5, 2014.

  • A prisoner convicted for murdering a disciplinary official was publicly executed in Saveh, Markazi Province, on May 7, 2014.

  • Two prisoners convicted on charges of drug trafficking and one convicted for murder were executed in Qom’s Central Prison, Qom Province, on May 7, 2014.

“Preventing Shahram Ahmadi from going to court”, affiliated with the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Tehran, in Persian, 5 May 2014

  • Shahram Ahmadi, a Sunni citizen detained in Raja’i Shahr prison in Karaj, Alborz Province, was prevented from attending a court session following his refusal to wear a prison uniform on May 5, 2014.
  • Ahmadi, who was arrested on April 26, 2009, was detained in Evin prison for 33 months, before being transferred to Raja’i Shahr prison.
  • His younger brother, Behram Ahmadi, was also arrested in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, in 2009 and was executed in Ghezel Hesar prison, Karaj, along with 5 other Sunni citizens, on December 26, 2011.

“Nasim Ashrafi, a Baha’i citizen, was arrested”, affiliated with the Human Rights Activists in Iran, Tehran, in Persian, 6 May 2014

  • Nasim Ashrafi, a Baha'i citizen previously sentenced to a one-year prison term on religious grounds, was arrested by security forced and transferred to Evin prison on May 6, 2014.
  • Ashrafi was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the Branch 28 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “connivance with Baha’i institutions” on June 12, 2013.
  • Her sentenced has been reduced to one year of imprisonment by Tehran’s Appeals Court.
