Pi Day 2023 Graduate students, Stephanie Saputra and Jeremy Schlitt

The department of Mathematics and Statistics held its first Pi Day event since 2019. The event featured two micro-talks about applying data analytics to chess and the Basel problem by our graduate students in our very own Department of Mathematics and Statstics, Stephanie Saputra and Jeremy Schlitt.

The talks were followed by the announcement of an exciting new contest - Math & Stats: Do you know what I meme? The contest invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit their best meme relating to mathematics and statistics or their life student in the department. Awards will be given to the best memes, selected by public vote!

Of course, no Pi Day celebration would be complete without pie! Attendees were treated a variety of pie as students and faculty to gathered to celebrate their passion for mathematics and statistics.

We are eagerly anticipating the next Pi Day celebration. Stay tuned for Pi Day 2024!
