LCDS professors Anna-Liisa Aunio and LSRC fellow Peter Stoett have just won a substantial grant from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) to study food justice and sustainability in Montreal. This ambitious project aims to address the costs of industrial, globalized food on society and the disproportionate impact it has on vulnerable populations, where it produces both hunger and obesity in poor and marginalized communities. In partnership with Alternatives, Dawson College, and écoHackMTL, the project will bring students, researchers, and communities together to work for food justice and build knowledge and policy that empowers all communities in the food system. The study will also provide exciting internship opportunities to Concordia students and to students of Dawson College, where Anna-Liisa also teaches. Congratulations to Anna-Liisa and Peter!
