On April 16, 2026, the CSLP hosted a Heritage Language Workshop focused on the cultural and linguistic importance of maintaining heritage languages.
Led by Aya Ceilidh Halliday, a PhD student in Applied Linguistics and CSLP affiliate, alongside Ryuichi Suzuki and Vitor Yano, the workshop was part of the Centre’s EmpowerGrad initiative and held in collaboration with the Concordia Japanese Language and Culture Community (JLCC).
Drawing on both research and lived experience, the session invited participants to think about how language shapes identity, belonging, and connection in their everyday lives.
