How many members of the Department of Education are involved in the annual meeting of the American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL) in March 2019 in Atlanta? To begin with, there’s Associate Professor Laura Collins, who is the first vice-president of AAAL and conference chair of the 2019 conference. Professor Walcir Cardoso and PhD students June Ruivivar, Clinton Hendry, and Lauren Strachan are also part of the conference organizing team. Assistant Professor Teresa Hernandez Gonzalez is offering  a pre-conference workshop on gamification principles and techniques for language pedagogy, research design, and assessment. Even retired faculty members are involved. Distinguished Professor Emerita Patsy Lightbown will co-present a plenary speech, “In It Together: Teachers, Researchers, and Classroom Second Language Acquisition”. You can see them all in action in Atlanta at the AAAL conference in March 2019!
