On February 3, Concordia University signed a new five-year agreement with the International Political Science Association (IPSA). This signing ceremony, held at the John-Molson Building, gathered key actors committed to developing Montréal’s international influence.

Founded in 1949 under the aegis of UNESCO, IPSA’s mission is to support the development of political science in all parts of the world. IPSA's Secretariat has been based at Concordia University since 2006. This signing ceremony highlighted the fourth agreement between Concordia and IPSA.

President Carr addresses attendees

“IPSA is a wonderful example of Concordia’s commitment to addressing major global policy questions of our time,” says Concordia’s president Graham Carr. “It is through partnering with leading international organizations like IPSA that we deepen our engagement with the world.”

Marianne Kneuer, president of IPSA, is thrilled about this renewed collaboration.

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Concordia,” she says.

“This new agreement reinforces our excellent relationship with the university. We are looking forward to the next five years, during which we will conduct structuring joint-projects, such as the upcoming IPSA-Concordia Summer School on Applied Diplomacy taking place in June 2020.”

The signing marks the first official event for IPSA’s incoming executive director Kim Fontaine-Skronski, who brings many years of experience in international public policy and political science to her new role.

“I am very proud to be part of the IPSA family and look forward to continuing its mission to advance the study of political science around the world.”
