New programs in the Faculty of Arts and Science

The Faculty of Arts and Science now has two new programs. There are many possible options with a Major or Minor to suit your interests and needs.

Major in Canadian Irish Studies

The Major in Canadian Irish Studies is a 42-credit program that gives students a broad understanding of the history, literatures and cultures of Ireland and the Irish Diaspora. Find out more

Minor in Canadian Irish Studies

The Minor in Canadian Irish Studies is a 24-credit program intended for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science who wish to complement their core area of study, or Major, with a selection of courses focused on the Irish experience in Ireland and Canada. Find out more

Certificate in Canadian Irish Studies

The Certificate in Canadian Irish Studies is a stand-alone 30-credit program designed for returning or graduate students who wish to concentrate exclusively on courses in Canadian Irish Studies. Courses can be taken at whatever pace suits an individual student’s needs. Find out more

Minor in Sustainability Studies

The primary purpose of a Minor in Sustainability Studies is to enable students to complement their Major, Specialization, or Honours Program with the systematic development of literacy in sustainability.Students will learn to situate the knowledge they gain from other disciplines within the context of complex global and local issues, such as biodiversity loss, or social injustice, while gaining a sophisticated understanding of the specific ways in which such issues interact directly with their chosen field of study.  Students will also have the opportunity to contribute directly to the pursuit of sustainability through internship and research opportunities on campus and in the outside community.
