Concordia’s engAGE: Centre for Research on Aging warmly invites you to a talk by Patrik Marier, professor in the Department of Political Science.

In the context of an aging population, few policy options could claim to benefit from a widespread endorsement like home care. The development of home care services has been a quasi-universal policy recommendation in public inquiries and international organizations, as well as from a wide range of experts.

Operating outside the framework of the Canada Health Act, provinces have had a lot of flexibility in the way to organize, finance and deliver home care resulting in four different models of home care. Rooted in the literature of welfare markets, this presentation provides an explanation for this divergence and discusses the policy impacts of these models.
