Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol

In the study of age and ageing, interdisciplinary collaboration can have myriad benefits. The practice of interdisciplinary research is also fraught with challenges. Using examples from her research on mobile digital practices among older adults in both developed and developing countries, Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol explores strategies for engaging in research that bridge multiple disciplines and approaches.

Drawing on her experiences and training in both economics and sociology, she explores opportunities for using both qualitative and quantitative approaches while avoiding patronizing attitudes and narrow conceptualizations of age and ageing.
