During this lunch and learn, Juan C. Mansilla, a graduate student from La Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Paris Nord, will examine INSPIRE-AGES, an ongoing project on healthy intergenerational communities in Paris and Montreal.

He will expose the main difficulties, and still unsolved questions, found in the methodological and theoretical construction of intergenerational ethnography works in areas of high urban density.

Given the particularities of the participants involved in the research of intergenerational urban communities — such as urban settlements and the neoliberal economy, the mass use of new communication technologies and, of course, generational differences — he suggests that it is useful to think about the construction of ‘protocols’ of research applicable to this kind of social phenomena.

Would it then be possible to define the methodological and conceptual foundations of a new field of study — that of healthy intergenerational urban communities?

This presentation is open to all and will be in English. Bring your own lunch.
