Guided Tour of Concordia's Public Art Collection: Art, History and Public Memory

As part of the Journées de la Culture in partnership with Art Public Montreal, Concordia University is offering thematic tours of the Concordia Public Art Collection.

The Art, History, and Public Memory tour will visit five Concordia public art collection artworks. This tour focuses on artworks that have unique insights into the history of Concordia and the city of Montreal more broadly, exploring the role of public art collections as repositories for collective memory. 

The featured artworks include: 

• Lintel stones from D’Arcy McGee’s house, (c. 1864)
• 3 Scenes of Nymphs in Canadian Landscape, (c. 1938), Kenneth Hensley Holmden
• Memorial Installation dedicated to four Concordia professors, (1996), Eduardo Aquino, Johanne Sloan, Kathryn Walter
• Untitled (sculpture commissioned for Bank of Montreal), (1966), Claude Théberge
• Sans titre, (1992), Rose-Marie Goulet with Effets Publics
