Open educational resources (OERs) have gained considerable momentum across Canada and worldwide because they significantly lower the cost of course materials – enabling access for all. As part of Open Access Week, this session will give an OER overview. We will search for discipline-specific OERs and discuss the challenges and significant benefits of integrating OERs into course content, including social justice within curricula and the publishing ecosystem.

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand the basics of OERs and their place in the open ecosystem
  2. Search OER repositories for discipline-specific OERs
  3. Discuss the challenges and significant benefits of integrating OERs into course content
  4. Ask questions about the social justice implications of OERs

This is an online event. Event URL will be sent via registration email.
