Named after the First Nations village of Hochelaga and “discovered” in 1535–36 by the explorer Jacques Cartier, the neighbourhood was, at one time, believed to be the location of the prehistoric village.

The Olympic Stadium was built in the mid-1970s as the main venue for the 1976 Summer Olympics. It is nicknamed "The Big O", a reference to both its name and to the doughnut-shape of the stadium's roof. It is also called "The Big Owe" to reference the astronomical cost of the stadium and the 1976 Olympics as a whole.

Food Truck Festival takes place the 1st Friday of the month from May to October. It is the largest gathering of street food trucks in Québec. Delight in a festive atmosphere and music from talented DJs. Bring some money and discover amazing food!
