Pîkiskwêtân, the Indigenous Directions Learning Series, is a continuous series of decolonizing and anti-racist Indigenous awareness training and professional development workshops. The series is open to Concordia staff, faculty and students.
This workshop is designed to bring awareness of the diversity of languages spoken by Indigenous peoples in Canada and highlights the opportunities and challenges of welcoming Indigenous languages in academia.
Topics discussed include: health status of Indigenous languages; factors that contribute to language loss; oral traditions in post-secondary education; and the role that universities can play in the revitalization and promotion of Indigenous languages.
