The psychological impact of racism, racial discrimination, oppression, microaggressions and a deeply troubling history of violence against black people in North America can lead to chronic and/or traumatic experiences as racism has yet to end. In this workshop, we will discuss the different experiences of trauma that are common in Black communities and define a term called Black Fatigue to provide guests with a sense of how different Black experiences in a white-dominated culture can cause emotional exhaustion.

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding Black fatigue and how to overcome it
  •  Gaining knowledge on how racism can cause exhaustion, trauma and other psychological or emotional concerns
  •  Gaining resources and strategies for coping with and healing from racial trauma
