Filmmaker Paul Tom will be screening his documentary, Bagages. The film gives voice to some adolescents newly arrived in Montreal. In theatre workshops and plays, they discover their migration’s narration as their integration. Despite their youth, they exchange with a baffling wisdom and emotion that can stir the strongest souls with a disarming authenticity.

Drawing from the intimate and personal, Paul Tom has been telling authentic and touching stories with delicacy for ten years. Born in a Thai refugee camp in a Cambodian family, he has a predilection for themes such as identity construction, family relationships, and the intimity and fragility of human beings. His projects give voice to people that we can’t always reach; they create dialogue spaces by opening arms to the other. Tom works as a film director, editor, art videomaker for museums and exhibition, as well as teaching. His films, including Bagages, have been selected in forty festivals throughout the world and have been awarded fifteen times.

This event is part of the “Listen, Explore and Learn” series, taking place at 4TH SPACE from December 2-10. See the full program here.
