Did you know that the fashion industry is the second-largest polluter in the world?

From evening gowns to everyday t-shirts, what were once made with natural fibers is now commonly produced using synthetic, petroleum-based fibers. With the rise of fast fashion, synthetic fibers found their way to our wardrobes, becoming one of the most popular material in the world. Today, the environmental cost has never been so high, and as consumers, we are rarely informed of this environmental impact when making a purchase.

Synthetic fibers also play a large role in the future of fashion, can you imagine clothing that can withstand extreme environment conditions? It already exists! The work of fashion designers who are defying the boundaries of clothing through synthetic materials will be discussed as we look at the past, present and speculate for the future of plastics in fashion.

In this webinar hosted by Maeva Ramboni and Wanda Stamford from the Concordia Precious Plastic Project (CP3), we invite you all to take a critical look at the rise of the synthetic fibers industry.

Register today, and let's talk fashion!
