The union of Teaching and Research Assistants at Concordia (TRAC) invites its members, including teaching assistants, research assistants and invigilators, to participate in its fall general assembly.

This will be a busy general assembly! Organizers want to thank participants in advance for their patience and support throughout the meeting. Members will receive updates on their union, elect a new president for the year 2019-20 and approve the 2019-20 budget.

Don’t forget to bring your student ID card or pay stub for identification purposes.

Unfortunately, this assembly is not open to bursary-paid research assistants who are not covered by TRAC. If you are not on Concordia’s payroll and would like to confirm your union membership, please contact TRAC by email.

A vegan dinner will be provided at the meet and greet at 5 p.m.

Nomination and election procedures

There is one open position on the TRAC 2019-20 executive committee, that of president. Once elected, the individual elected president will take office immediately. To see a list of their responsibilities please refer to TRAC’s by-laws.

If you would like to nominate yourself as president, here are the nomination rules. As a reminder, as per article 15.1 in our by-laws, only teaching assistants and research assistants may run for the role of president. Additionally, the by-laws stipulate that you must be enrolled at Concordia and will be at the university until the end of May 2020. Please see Article 15.2 in the by-laws for full eligibility information.

Nominations close on November 17 at 5 p.m.

To nominate yourself, please send your most recent contract (with your social insurance number removed), the name of two people who support you and proof of their TRAC membership (for example, their most recent contract). Please send these documents to TRAC by email with the subject headline: Presidential Nomination – [Insert Name Here].

How to get your pay stub

If you are a student receiving pay — including scholarships, awards, bursaries and fellowships — from Concordia, you can access your pay stub by logging into the MyConcordia portal with your employee netname and password. Once logged in, please refer to the following steps:

  1. Make sure you are on the ‘My Front Page’ tab, and choose ‘Employee Services’ under the ‘MyConcordia Menu’
  2. Select ‘MyHR Profile’
  3. Under the ‘Empath Menu,’ choose ‘My Empath,’ then click on ‘Earnings.’ Select ‘Pay Stubs’ and click on the pay stub of your choice to see its details.

How to create an employee netname

  1. Create your employee access to the portal — select ‘Activate your netname’ below the ‘Log in’ button on the MyConcordia Portal
  2. Enter the necessary information, then select ‘Submit Request.’ To get your employee ID number, ask your supervisor or contact Human Resources by email
  3. Create your password. Your new employee netname and password do not replace your current student access nor are they connected
  4. Log into the portal with your new employee netname and password, then follow the three steps for staff and faculty above
