MARIA ANDREA GARCIA

earned her MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy in 2001 from Roehampton University (London) and her BA in Psychology from Richmond University in 1999.

Her experience in the field of Dance Movement Therapy has been varied and challenging. Working with diverse populations such as older adults and adults with acute and chronic mental health problems; adolescents with emotional and behavioural problems; and adults with severe and mild learning disabilities and complex needs.

Recently, Maria is breaking grounds in Colombia by pioneering Dance Movement Psychotherapy for people impacted by the Colombian armed conflict. She is currently leading a pilot study to see the effects of Dance Movement psychotherapy techniques with young persons at risk and suffering from PTDS, Depression and Anxiety disorders.
