Join us as we gather on the International Day of Listening 2021 to celebrate the launch of EAHR | Media and Acts of Listening Lab member and ex-post-doc fellow Rajni Shah’s new book, Experiments in Listening.
including…
introductions by Alice Ming Wai Jim and Luis Carlos Sotelo Castro
sweet words of reflection and offering from Hanss Lujan and Veronica Mockler
& a listening and zine-stitching session led by Rajni Shah and Surabhi Ghosh
To enable us to accommodate more people, this event will take place virtually. However, we encourage you to organise your own small in-person gatherings, for which we can supply (to local attendees) printed copies of the zines as well as needles and thread for the sewing activity.
RAJNI SHAH
is an artist whose practice is focused on listening and gathering as creative and political acts. In 2018 they accepted a Horizon Postdoctoral Fellowship at Concordia University, working with Dr Luis Carlos Sotelo Castro to set up the Acts of Listening Lab. Rajni’s first monograph, titled Experiments in Listening, was published in June 2021, and in September 2021 they are publishing a series of accompanying zines, available to download and print at home. Both the book and zines are part of the Performance Philosophy Series, published with Rowman & Littlefield.
Please RSVP so we can send you all the information you need to print/collect zines and prepare for the event a week in advance. Registration required
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
