Law Meets Engineering series

Concordia University's Jurist-in-Residence, Morton S. Minc, invites you to the roundtable discussion: From Load Cases to Case Loads, as part of the Law Meets Engineering lectures series organized by the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.

Important Note

This conference will be presented in hybrid mode: you can either attend in-person or virtually (Zoom). You can make your pick during registration.

Construction can sometimes lead to litigious situations in connection with design, execution of works and project management. When mediation, litigation before the courts or private arbitration ensue, lawyers and engineers must know and carry out their respective roles and responsibilities toward resolution of the conflict.

This conference takes the form of a round-table discussion bringing together jurists and engineers to compare notes and share insights into the technical origins of conflicts, processes of dispute resolution and technical and legal principles applicable, as viewed from their various perspectives.

The panel includes:

  • David L. Cameron, justice at the Court of Quebec with a background and an ongoing interest in construction matters, defending design professionals and acting for construction claimants and insurers.
  • Hellen Christodoulou, ing, BCL., LL.B, MBA, a lecturer at the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science at Concordia University and renowned expert in structural engineering, law and dispute resolution
  • Tommie Anne Côté, LL.B a lawyer specializing in construction litigation and dispute resolution

The conference has been designed for the benefit both of students and of professionals, including those already engaged in the practice and those entering the field who wish to orient their ongoing education and carrer development within it.

Participants will be encouraged to join in the discussion during question periods and by networking at the close of the formal programme.
