During this lecture, Fatemeh Sadeghi, Lillian Robinson scholar in Concordia’s Simone de Beauvoir Institute, investigates the construction of women and gender in post-revolutionary Iran in relation to the Constitution.

She will explore the debates of the constituent assembly over women's role in society and family and the ways in which women's role is redefined in the Constitution. The question is to what extent the Constitution rather reproduced and institutionalized gender inequality than provided equal rights for its female citizens in post-revolutionary Iran.
