Join Lord Bhikhu Parekh, Professor of Political Theory and Labour Member of the UK House of Lords, to discuss the challenges facing modern liberal democracies today and the ways in which we should strive to reconcile the principles of democracy, liberalism, and pluralism.

Building upon his talk on March 30th, Lord Parekh will explore the intricacies of the often conflictual ideals of liberalism and democracy, both their commonalities and their differences. He will elaborate on the ways in which liberal democracies, like Canada, can come to terms with the many pressures that face it, embracing diversity and the principles of pluralism as complements that allow such societies to cope with the diverse demands of future generations through stronger and more legitimate political systems.

Important Note: Registration in this workshop includes registration for the Evening Talk held March 30th, 5:30pm-7:30pm.
