While Canada accounts for a small fraction of the scientific research conducted worldwide, the even smaller fraction of specialized science media based in Canada means that the country’s research efforts are chronically underreported. Ivan Semeniuk, science reporter for The Globe and Mail, will review a collection of stories that range from the important to the entertaining and explore what they reveal about science and journalism in Canada.
Ivan Semeniuk is a Toronto-based science reporter for The Globe and Mail. For more than two decades, he has been covering important scientific research and developments. In 2016, he was presented with the Sanford Fleming Medal & Citation, which is given to a Canadian who helps to foster a scientifically literate public, and informs the public on problems in science and technology. Previously, he has worked at Nature, New Scientist and The Discovery Channel.
