About the talk:
The effort to achieve and preserve civil consent concerns political thinkers and modern societies. Looking at the Israeli case, I will discuss the possibility of agreeing in a modern, pluralistic and divided society. Is the way for civil collaboration passing through the acknowledgment of the inability to agree upon values and the abandonment of the liberal ideal for a harmonious society?

Biography:
"I'm a research fellow at Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. I wrote my Ph.D. at Haifa University, where I'm also teaching about the public sphere in the modern state. My research topic is the ability to create and preserve civil consent in the modern state, considering the constant cultural division and the permanent existence of minority groups. I confront this question by analyzing the political theory of Yeshayahu Leibowitz and his attitude to the political sphere, the state of Israel, and the Israeli- Palestinian conflict."
