Please join the Azrieli Institute of Israel Studies on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 12:00PM EST / 7:00PM ILT for a virtual talk Revolutionizing Audiovisual Memories of Israel: Streaming 125 years of films' treasures from the Israel Film Archive with Hila Abraham.

For the first time: The Jerusalem Cinematheque unveils the treasures of the Israeli Film Archive worldwide and online, allowing a rare glimpse into thousands of Historical and cinematic titles (digitized in 4K and subtitled into English), from 19th century to the present day @ jfc.org.il.

Following a 10 million USD digitization, preservation and in-depth research process initiated in 2015 – The new platform makes a substantial contribution in refreshing and updating the Israel’s cinematic canon, and encouraging new research on Israel's audiovisual history as portrayed in thousands of features, documentaries, newsreels, industrial films, home movies and much more. We invite everyone to take part in this exciting journey we started seven years ago and now proudly share with the world.

Hila Abraham has been the director of the Israel Film Archive's Digitization, Digital preservation and Access program for the past 7 years. In 2010, after had completing her MA in Film Studies at Tel Aviv University, she spent 4 years in United States working in film archives, film festivals and film curating, where she also graduated from the L. Jeffery Selznick School of Film Preservation in Rochester, NY (2014). Hila is the recipient of the Sony Pictures Scholarship from the Intl. Association of Moving Image Archivists, and an active advocacy member in the international arena of Film Archives.
