6:30 - 8:00 PM: Presentation with Wilfred Buck

* 8:30 - 10:30 PM: An evening of night sky viewing at Concordia's Loyola Campus with volunteers and telescopes from RASC/John Abbott College and McGill Space Institute (if clear skies permit).

Open to all!

Bring your telescopes or binoculars. There will be a limited number of telescopes available for viewing.

*Alternate date for night sky viewing - Thursday, October 27.

Mr. Wilfred Buck is from Opaskwayak Cree Nation. He is an Indigenous astronomer and author, educator, Sun Dance Chief, Knowledge Keeper, astrologer, artist, father and husband. He has 25 years of experience as an educator and was a Science Facilitator at the Manitoba First Nations Education Centre for 15 years. He developed an Indigenous astronomy curricula using knowledge imparted during ceremonies and shared by his Elders and others. He is the author of Tipiskawi Kisik: Night Sky Stories, Kitcikisik: The Great Sky, and the memoir I Have Lived Four Lives.

With support from Concordia University: First Peoples Studies program, Office of Indigenous Directions, Decolonizing Light Project, and the Otsenhkta Student Center. In collaboration with Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Montreal Centre / John Abbott College and the McGill Space Institute.
