BOLD Science Conference

The BOLD Science Conference is organized by the Science College and the Science College Student Association at Concordia University. This year's theme is Wildfire and welcomes two guest speakers, both research scientists in the field of forest ecology.

Since 2019, the BOLD conference has given current Science College students the opportunity to present their research findings, learn about other science disciplines, and improve their science communication skills. The conference promotes the multidisciplinary nature of science and science communication/literacy and highlights the exceptional research performed by the undergraduate students of the Science College.

This year, the conference will be held over two days. The first day, May 6th 2022, will have a hybrid format, and the second day, May 7th 2022, will be fully online. More information on the schedule as well as links can be found by clicking the register now button.

Join us on Loyola Campus, at RF 110.0, or remotely via Zoom for the first day of BOLD featuring our guest speakers:

• Dr. Yan Boulanger, research scientist in Forest Ecology at the Canadian Forest Services
• Dr. Lori Daniels, research scientist and professor at the University of British Columbia, in the Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences

Following a lunch break, an "Article Jigsaw" workshop will be held to promote science literacy skills in students - with the chance to win prizes.

May 7th

Join us on Gather.town for a virtual poster session. The students of the Science College will be presenting their exceptional research projects completed as part of the Science College minor. The Gather.town platform allows for attendees to explore a virtual poster hall with a customized character, and interact with poster presenters by coming into proximity of the poster. Explore the hall and ask the Science College students about their next-generation research.

Raffle prizes will be handed out to attendees.

The Minor in Multidisciplinary Studies in Science (Science College) at Concordia is a program for undergraduates interested in pursuing a career in scientific research. The students are required to complete a minimum of two research projects outside of their Major, in the spirit of promoting the multidisciplinary nature of research.
