Chief Justice Scott Hughes

Concordia University’s Jurist-in-residence, Morton S. Minc invites you to a conversation with The Honorable Scott Hughes, Senior Chief Judge, Court of Quebec. Chief Justice Hughes will discuss virtual justice including:

  • What has been put in place?
  • What will remain?
  • What should guide the Courts in the future?

About the guest speaker
Chief Justice Hughes holds a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Montréal and a graduate degree in health law from the University of Sherbrooke. As a lawyer, he practiced mainly in civil litigation and labor relations in the health and social services network. He was a professor at the École du Barreau for several years and taught, in particular, techniques of pleading and civil procedure. Since his appointment in April 2012, he has served in the Civil Division, the Administrative and Appeal Division and the Human Rights Tribunal. Judge Hughes became Senior Chief Judge of the Court of Québec on February 1, 2017.
