In the context of the COVID-19 crisis response measures, in-person convocation ceremonies are not possible for spring 2020. While we cannot host an in-person ceremony now, we very much want to offer a way for you to celebrate this moment at a distance.
CU Celebrate features information on how to celebrate graduates, including custom filters, suggestions for creating and sharing a graduation message, and a complimentary GradImages photo and message slide for every graduate.
All of this leads up to our virtual celebration of graduates on June 18 — with more celebratory surprises for graduates.
This is not a replacement for convocation nor is it a virtual ceremony. We continue to make every effort to provide an in-person celebration, as soon as we are able, for the class of 2020. But, for now, please join us before and on June 18 and let’s celebrate your graduation.
CU Celebrate is a virtual celebration, launched on June 2, with new content added leading up to the celebration on June 18, including surprise messaging and a virtual dance party hosted by the Concordia University Alumni Association.
There is no need to RSVP for this virtual celebration on June 18 — members of the community can get a head start by visiting CU Celebrate for information on how to participate, including how to get and share your message of congratulations to our graduates.
For any questions about convocation and this opportunity to celebrate virtually, email firstname.lastname@example.org, indicating CONVOCATION in the subject line.
Concordia has partnered with GradImages in order to offer our graduates a personalized souvenir graduation graphic for sharing with family and friends.
GradImages has communicated with all graduates with this offer and custom link to create your graphic. You can upload a photo and message — it will also show your name, department and degree.
Graduation graphics will be emailed to students and made available during the virtual celebration on June 18. A search feature will be available for family and friends to view your graduation graphic, and for you to view your friends’ and peers’.
Once the virtual celebration has concluded, graduation graphics will remain available on Concordia’s Convocation website.
If you did not receive an email from GradImages on Wednesday, June 3, please view your unofficial transcript in your student portal to ensure the Credential Awarded appears with a Confer Date of 22/05/2020.
We are unable to grant deferrals to future Convocations as we are uncertain what we will be able to offer as COVID-19 response measures evolve. We will continue to monitor and evaluate what is possible in the months ahead for in-person gatherings.
Once available, diplomas/certificates for Spring 2020 graduates will be mailed via Canada Post at no charge. Students will be required to validate their mailing address prior to the diplomas being sent. More information will follow on how to validate your mailing address.
Should graduates prefer to have diplomas sent by courier to international destinations, charges will apply.
Diplomas/Certificates will be mailed over the course of the summer months dependent on COVID-19 measures and the closure of businesses upon which we rely on for the printing of these degrees. Details will be updated here as information becomes available to us.
Graduates requiring proof of graduation can obtain a letter of attestation (Certification of graduation) from the Birks Student Service Centre. Details on submitting letter requests can be found on the Birks Student Service Centre page.
With the highest regard for the health and wellbeing of our community, academic regalia rentals are not currently available via our supplier. However, when the situation changes please contact us and we can provide more information.
