Xiang found her passion for building engineering after completing a bachelor's degree in Japanese language and literature and working in administrative logistics and customer services in Tokyo and Montreal. As a student at Concordia. she found that her program combined her passions for architecture and technology and studying with professors who are the specialists in the field.

Her one piece of advice for peers...

Always try to find links between the knowledge you learn in different courses and ask yourself how it can be applied to your future job.

Three keys to her academic success

• Be passionate about what you are studying and read relevant reference books.
• Be attentive during lectures and participate in the Q&A's.
• Schedule your time efficiently and be disciplined.
  

Two study tips

• Do not just memorize the equations by heart. Try to understand the concepts fully.
• Be prepared to dedicate 80 to 100 hours of your time a week on studying.
