Kessie Theliar-Charles

Kessie graduated from Concordia University with a BFA in Art History, she is now pursuing her Master’s degree at the same university. Former president of the Haitian Students Association of Concordia (HSAC), she has coordinated various events focusing on the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and history within the Haitian local community. Active affiliate of CIDIHCA (Centre International de Documentation et d’Information Haitienne, Caribéenne et Afro-Canadienne), she is interested in the recuperation, preservation, recognition, and dissemination of the art and cultural legacies of Black visual artists who were and are active in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal.

Working Thesis Title: Tim Tim? Bwa Chèch!: Effacement de la présence des artistes visuels haïtiens à Montréal 1964-1986
