Alex Chartrand is a PhD student in Communication Studies at Concordia University in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, Canada. He is a research assistant for the Digital Intimacy, Gender & Sexuality (DIGS) Lab and is affiliated with the Graduate Research Training Program “Configurations of Film” as Associate Doctoral Candidate at the Goethe Universit t. His interests are online social movements, queer countercultures, platform governance, algorithmic studies and alternative technology. He works on the activism of LGBTQ+ communities against algorithmic bias on social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook, thinking about how understanding and imaginaries of technologies shape this resistance.
