The Climate Clock project tracks global warming in real time to show how fast we are approaching the climate targets we have pledged to avoid.
Designed by Matthews and Usher, and updated each year on the anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement, the clock uses the latest rate of emissions and level of human-induced warming to track how long the world has until the remaining allowable emissions under the Agreement are used up.
Humanity has the power to add time to the clock, but only if we work collectively and measure our progress against defined targets.
At 5 PM on Thursday, December 12, the clock will be updated. Join us to find out whether we have gained or lost time.
The clock update will be unveiled via projection in the 4th Space. The update will be followed by a discussion between Matthews, Future Earth director Amy Luers, and Usher, who will take questions from the audience. Hosted by Journalism's Amélie Doust-Boisvert.
Refreshments will be served.
This event is free and open to the public – RSVP here.
