Writers' Read with Shazia Hafiz Ramji and David Chariandy

This event is part of the Post/Colonial Ports: Place and Nonplace in the Ecotone conference. Held at Concordia from October 24 to 26, this conference is the sixth of an international five-year conference series entitled Ecotones. It will focus on port cities in response to the current geopolitical climate on migration, and economic divisions and the pressing need to think through wider historical, cultural and spatial contexts.

This event is organized by Concordia’s Institute for Urban Futures — with the support of the departments of English and Geography, Planning and Environment — in partnership with Études Montpelliéraines du Monde Anglophone (EMMA) at Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, Migrations Internationales, Espaces et Sociétés (MIGRINTER) at the National Center for Scientific Research and Université de Poitiers, and the Maison française d’Oxford.

About Shazia Hafiz Ramji

Author of Port of Being —  a finalist for the 2019 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize — poet Shazia Hafiz Ramji was a finalist for the 2018 Alberta Magazine Awards. Previously, she received the 2017 Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry and was a finalist for the 2016 National Magazine Awards.
