Past winners

Maria is an undergrad student currently majoring in Biology and specializing in Systems & Information Biology. Her patience, joy and determination have made her an excellent volunteer at Literacy Together where she tutors students in Grade 4 in Math and French. Maria also makes time in her schedule to volunteer with Let’s Talk Science and the Jewish General Hospital Foundation. Her sense of passion, determination, and dedication not only present themselves in her friendships, but they are especially brought out through her volunteer work.  

Through her volunteer work, Stacey has held multiple leadership roles while fostering growth and empowerment within the communities she serves. From roles on the Board of Directors for Lean In Canada to a Volunteer Advisor for Catalyste+, she has demonstrated her deep commitment to community development and social betterment. Stacey has a genuine desire to make a meaningful impact on the world around her and she does this through a list of the many causes she supports. Stacey is an alumnus of Concordia having graduated with a BA in Human Relations in 2009 and is currently completing her Masters in the Human Systems Intervention Program.

Rosalie is currently studying Neuroscience and has been a dedicated volunteer for years. She has completed well over 600 volunteer hours with St-John Ambulance where her leadership and work-ethic have been central to providing support and motivation for other volunteers. Not only has she dedicated an exceptional amount of time to the organization, but she has also stood out with her interpersonal skills, her kindness, work ethic and constant drive to learn more and improve her skills. 

Mel is a Two-Spirit Red River Métis/Cree PhD candidate exploring original research in Indigenous traditional tattooing as healing and (re)connection for Indigenous people. She is a prominent figure in the community where her advocacy and volunteer work focusing on Indigenous health and justice has had a lasting impact. Through her extensive volunteer work with the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, she has shared her creative and intuitive talent for bringing people together to produce exceptional outcomes and lead to positive change. 

Sharon’s passionate commitment to serve her community has been demonstrated through her volunteer work with the Jamaica Association of Montreal for many years where she has overseen the Food Bank as well as a variety of committees that support their members. Sharon is generally the first to arrive at the Centre, first to do whatever is needed and the last to leave at night. She is the Assistant Director of the Executive MBA at the John Molson School of Business where she is known for her community involvement dedicated to making Montreal a better place for all. 

Rawane is an undergraduate student who began her volunteering journey when she was 13. Since then, she has made positive contributions in various roles with many community organizations such as St. John Ambulance, Foundation Al-Nur and DansLaRue. In her volunteer roles with Concordia clubs Medspecs and the ICU Bridge Program, she provides guidance and mentorship to other students, as well as support in the ICU at the Royal Victoria Hospital. At the Bridges Association where she has volunteered for five years, she is appreciated for her hard work which has been essential to the community.
