Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)

This training Program is an introduction to crisis prevention that emphasizes on early intervention and nonphysical methods for preventing or managing disruptive behavior.

Concordia University is pleased to offer you the opportunity to learn about Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.

The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® program teaches staff to safely respond to difficult behavior and manage crisis situation with confidence.

  • Learn how to take control of an out-of-control situation
  • Recognize non-verbal behavior
  • Recognize para-verbal communication
  • Identify sources of anxiety & fear and be able to control them
  • Learn a few safety techniques

By participating in this one-day workshop you will gain the confidence necessary to handle crisis situations with minimum anxiety and maximum security. The training is the first step on a meaningful journey toward a safer, more supportive work environment. Course handouts will be provided at the workshops.

The workshop is offered to all administrative and support staff members, as well as faculty. Your supervisor or department chair's approval is required for you to register for this workshop.

The University will defray the cost of the workshop except in the case late cancellations. See the cancellation provisions below.

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, a one-day workshop

Each workshop runs from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The maximum number of participants is 24. By registering you agree to the Cancellation policy.
