Students from all disciplines can take the WSSR workshops for credit > POLI 683/WSSR or POLI815/WSSR: Graduate Seminar.
Through participation in a selection of workshops from the WSSR program, this course provides a unique opportunity for students to advance their critical thinking, value adding, communication, and decision-making skills, as well as their professional networks.
These workshops are designed largely to supplement and enhance students’ knowledge and skills in a variety of substantive areas, such as democratic governance, public policy, social justice, normative considerations, research methodology, and effective writing and communication.

Graduate students from all disciplines both inside and outside of Concordia are welcome to take the WSSR for credit. Be sure to consult with your Graduate Program Director (GPD) in order to confirm that you are eligible to receive credit toward your degree.

How to register
If you are a graduate student interested in taking the WSSR for credit, simply email confirmation of eligibility from your GPD to, and you will then be directly enrolled in the course. For a list of Concordia GPDs and GPAs see:

Once you have been enrolled in the course, you will be given the choice to select your six days’ worth of workshops from the WSSR program.

Note that in Fall and Winter all workshops take place on Fridays (and occasionally on Saturdays). During the Summer 1 term, workshops take place from Monday to Friday.

If you have any questions, please call us at 514-848-2424 x5473.

Students participating in this WSSR course will be required to pay a modest course surcharge which grants them access to the WSSR workshops. This fee is charged in addition to the regular tuition and is added directly to the student's account upon registration.

Students taking the workshops for credit are charged a reduced rate of $50/day (each course comprises 6 days of workshops, totaling $300). These fees help to cover the costs of:

  • Bringing our guest lecturers to Concordia
  • Evening talks
  • Course materials

Important Notes:
1. Enrollment for 2019-2020 courses is now open. Simply email us at (see above for instructions).

2. The full list of workshops for Winter 2020 will be emailed to all registered participants at least two weeks prior to the start of the term. Participants will then select six days' worth of workshops.
