  1. Why should I apply for the French Language Bursary?
    Answer: Working in Quebec means you need to have good French-language skills. Learning French can give you a competitive edge in gaining employment in Quebec.

  2. How can I apply for the French Language Bursary?
    Answer: The application form will be made available online later this FALL

  3. Do I have to register for a French class prior to applying for this bursary?
    Answer: Yes. In order to be eligible to receive this bursary, all students must have registered for a French course through the Département d’études françaises (FRAN 211, FRAN 212, FRAN 213, FRAN 214, FRAN 215, FRAN 218, FRAN 219, FRAN 221, FRAN 301, FRAN 302, FRAN 303, FRAN 305, FRAN 318 and/or FRAN 321).

  4. Can I win more than one bursary if I register for more than one French course?
    Answer: You can only win one bursary per academic year. Each bursary round will include Summer, Fall and Winter semesters and bursaries will be awarded in May. You must be considered a Full time student in order to receive a bursary.

  5. Will taking a French course affect my GPA?
    Answer: If you are an undergraduate student, taking a French course will affect your GPA and count for credit towards your degree. If you are agraduate student, taking a French course will NOT affect your GPA nor will it count towards your degree. Graduate students must first become independent before they can register for a French course.

  6. How do I know which class to choose in Études françaises?
    Answer: The Département d’études françaises offers a compulsory placement test that will guide you towards the right course. For more information, please visit LB-601 or call 514-848-2424 ext. 7500.

  7. My schedule is full and I cannot register for a French class this semester or the next. What can I do to learn French on campus?
    Answer: There are plenty of resources at Concordia. Visit the section Oui Can Help! Learn.

  8. Where can I practice French?
    Answer: There are various ways to practice French depending on your needs, whether written, spoken or both. Visit the section Oui Can Help! Practice, to find the best appropriate resource to help you practice.
