Updates to the Economics course offerings

The Department of Economics is offering new courses this year: 

ECON 498/4 H Capstone Research Paper allows BA students to conduct in-depth research and write a comprehensive research paper on a topic of your choice under a faculty member’s supervision. Hone your skills in data analysis, critical thinking, and academic writing while getting hands-on experience in applying economic theories to real-world issues. 

Also on offer for BA and Graduate Diploma students is ECON 498(598)/4 J Advanced Topics: Public Economics. Topics such as public goods, externalities, the theory of welfare measurement, the impacts and designs of taxation, poverty, inequality, and social welfare will be examined.

Finally, for students looking at accessing the Honours path advanced theory classes 401 & 403: ECON 326/2 A Math for Economics II is a prerequisite! Seats are still available.

Meet our faculty!

Panos Margaris joined our department in 2020 as a macroeconomist working on inequality, human capital, economics of obesity, and taxation. Dr. Margaris will be teaching ECON 303 Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory II, ECON 485 Health Economics, and ECON 695 Special Topics: Health Economics in 2024-25.
