Position description

Limited-term appointment positions at Concordia are full-time faculty positions of between 9.5- and 12-month duration (the annual salary is pro-rated in the case of shorter contracts). The incumbent is responsible for teaching six (in the case of a 9.5-month contract) or seven three-credit courses per year, and for some administrative and other service roles within the academic unit. Up to two subsequent 12-month appointments may be possible, subject to satisfactory job performance, academic unit need, and budgetary approval.

The Department of Education invites applications for one limited-term appointment in the Early Childhood and Elementary Education (ECEE) program. The faculty member will be primarily responsible for teaching internship and seminar courses related to early childhood and elementary-level instruction.

Qualifications and assets

Applicants should have a Master’s or PhD in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Child Studies, Educational or Developmental Psychology, or a related field, as well as relevant teaching experience at the university level. Expertise is required in the supervision of students in practice and internships in early childhood and elementary school settings, and knowledge of elementary level curriculum. Teaching certification at the elementary level (Kindergarten–Grade 6) and a working knowledge of French are required. Teaching experience in early childhood settings and/or Kindergarten–Grade 6 and familiarity with the Quebec Education Program (QEP) are assets.
